BYA ACTIVITIES IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
Monthly Family Retreat
Every month during summer season from May through October, we offer a day of mindfulness usually on the second Sunday of the month or a family weekend retreat at Harmony Pines Camp and Retreat Center. Each month we invited different Guest Speaker/Practitioner and/or Dharma Teacher to lead sessions in meditation, mindfulness practice, dharma discussion, and yoga/integral taichi activities. These events are offered free of charge with complimentary meals and accommodation at our camp facility up in Wrightwood, CA. Please check the dates on our calendar or click here for more information.
Mindful Youth Program & VSL Program
Objective: BYA designs this program to create an environment for children of 7 to 12 years old to play and learn through various program activities, which help to bring out creativity, confidence, and compassion of each child. As a result, it will help the children to improve their concentration in school, their physical flexibility as well as their communication and interaction skills with friends and families.
In addition, to help Vietnamese American children to be connected with their roots and Vietnamese culture, BYA offers a weekly class to teach Vietnamese as a Second Language to the children who wish to learn. Our VSL course is focused on listening and speaking Vietnamese as well as on learning about Vietnamese culture using materials and learning techniques for non‐native Vietnamese speakers.
Program Schedule: On Sundays, children will participate in activities from 10 am to 2 pm including a healthy vegetarian lunch at BYA meeting place in Westminster, CA. One Saturday or Sunday a month, entire family of parents and children will be invited to participate in a family retreat day at Harmony Pines Camp & Retreat Center in Wrigtwood, CA.

‐ The Teen Explorer Program is designed specifically to provide a holistic training environment for teenagers from the age of 13 to 15 to embrace life, to learn social and leader‐of‐self skills, to practice compassion and mindfulness; to build a balanced and appreciative character development through various program activities.
